Default Radio Swap Question

Will an AM/FM/Cassette factory radio from a 94 swap directly into a 93 that has the same type radio?

What is Theftlock (I assume it is a radio anti-theft type device that dis-ables a radio if stolen) and can the radio be re-programmed if swapped from another car? Thanks

Well, thankfully the Theftlock did not cause a problem and the radio fits. The mounting tab on the left side of the radio is a little smaller than the 93 but I can get one screw in it so that should not be a problem.

However, I still have no sound from the rear speakers with either radio. Haven't run a continuity test yet on the wires but the chance of 2 radios not having sound in the rears speakers is I'm sure a possibiltiy but I'm thinking not a probability so I need to check the wires first. I think even if both speakers were shot, there would be a least some type of sound (even a rasp) if they were shot.

prolly a chaffed wire running from the radio to the rear deck. Check the speaker wires in the trunk. Sometimes they hang a little low and can be pulled apart when objects are in the trunk. U are right... even if the speakers are blown u should have sound.. itll just be distorted. Check your wires or possibly the leads pulled out of the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the radio. my girlfriends 2000 Blazer has a issue similar except sometimes the rear door speakers work and sometimes they dont

After doing a continuity test and finding all 4 wires good, both rear speakers are non-functional. Hard to believe, but I used an old boom box speaker and plugged it into the connector on the back of the radio and it worked, then took it around to the trunk and plugged it into the connector and it worked there too.

Does any one have a wiring diagram for the 93 that shows which speaker wires are positive & negative? Left rear has yellow & brown wire and right speaker has light blue & dark blue wires.

Brown should be positive and yellow should be negative.

Dark blue should be positive and light blue negative.

Edit: You can test this by fading and balancing so only one rear speaker is on, play a song with bass. When bass hits, the speaker should push out first. If it sucks in first reverse the wires.
