Defogger radio interferrence
I have a 2000 SSEi with the integrated window antenna. When I turn on the rear window defogger, I loose about 70% of my FM sensitivity. No problems on the AM side. I've considered installing a signal booster to address the problem, but I'm not sure if that would help. Also thought about replacing the integrated antenna with a power mast.
Has anyone else ever run into this problem? Any suggestions on a solution????

Hang on, this was posted before by someone else, and I believe he found a fix. It would be either in the 2000 forum or Audio. Can someone find it?
I'd suspect a bad ground somewhere myself, but let'* see what the previous fix was.

Yeah, seriously, GM would not put a car out if that would be a issue. I suspect a loose ground on either the antenna or the def. Never take the first answer, let us help you thru this.

But I think the antenna will get a lot of interference with that kinda juice going there, but I do have something that should help a lot of it'* wired up the way I think it is. If they use a common ground, or the same ground, then definetly try that first. If both are grounded you could get nasty feedback into your antenna.

My dad has never had this problem on his GTP... and he has the antenna in his back window. So, I gots to disagree that it cannot be avoided...

Yeah, I have two friends that have GPs with the integrated antenna and perfect reception. You have to have a ground loose somewhere.

I have 2001 ssei with the same in window antenna and I have NO problems. Check those grounds!!! Still do the search here for it, fix might have been something else though.
My problem with radio reception is sometimes when I have it turned up, the bass makes the reception get staticy just for the length of the bass beat. Oh well what can you do, it has to be pretty HARD/loud bass to make this happen, dosen't happen all the time either, must be certain frequencies that get it.

Thanks for the good info. Where should I start looking for the bad ground? I assume that there must be a connector beneath the rear window. Would that be the likely place, or could it be in the wiring harness leading to the radio?
