CD Deck Problem
About a week ago I started the car and had a misfire which seem to shorten out the deck. I have a pioneer deck and it has not come back on since then. Now, I read that if the battery has been disconnected or the device removed and installed several times it will go into a security lock. I also read to reset the deck I would have to disconnect the deck for 24 hours and then reconnect.
A guy I know that works on car audio stated to me that the deck was fried and the only thing to do is replace the deck. Is there anyway to check the deck to know if it has actually been destroyed?

Where the harness plugs into the back of the deck there will be a small fuse. That should of popped before any damage was done... check the fuse. Next there should be a very small reset hole u can stick a pen into to reset in.. prolly behind ur faceplate. depress the reset for 10 sec..

The fuse on the back on the deck is still good... Now, the guy said the connection from the faceplate to the deck was weak and he used some kind of knife-like-tool and ran it acoss the connection on the back of the face plate it turned on. He said the connection wears out over time and that is a common problem. Now he said the radio will cut on and off because it has worn out and needs to be replaced.

U can buy a new faceplate for ur deck.. but ur options are limited if the contact points are worn. The its my problem now because he traded the deck to me. I buy, sell and trade car audio
