Default Accessory Power Delay??

Hey, I rewired my stereo system in my 2000 Bonneville. I found a fuse to attach a wire to for the ignition switch, but that turns on and off with the ignition. I'm looking to obtain the feature where the radio will stay on for 10 minutes after the car is turned off or until a door is opened. The cigar lighter wire will not do to splice into It stays on for 10 minutes regardless if a door is opened or not. Also, the windows will be operative for 10 minutes or until a door opens after the ignition is turned off. That idea may help someone help me. I don't know where to go from there. Does anyone know a fuse or relay to tap into? Or hopefully a simple wire to splice into?

That wire should have gone to the old radio, correct?

You are referring to the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) circiut of the car. You can connect the radio'* switched ignition input to this wire at the main ignition harness. In Most GM'* this wire is blue and is the same gauge as all of the other main ignition wires (12 ga I think).

Sorry I can't be more specific. We will need verification as to the color of this wire as well.

Default Two Types

Well, there'* two different types of Retained Accessory Power (RAP) that I know of. The one RAP is the type that keeps the lights on for 10 minutes even when you open a door after the engine'* off. It'* also the one that keeps the cigar lighter active for 10 minutes regardless if the door is opened or not. The second RAP (the one I want) is the one that turns off certain accessories (windows, radio, etc.) after a door is opened and the ignition is off, or if a door is not opened, will turn it off after 10 minutes after the ignition is off. The fuse for RAP in the fuse box that'* under the rear seat is for the RAP of the whole car and is always active. So I can't use that. I will try a to find the blue wire later on today. If you have anymore ideas, please let me know.

Exactly. That power source should be on the harness that went to your old radio... Just use it for the new radio.

Default The Deal

The deal is, though, I have a 2000 Bonneville. The radio and everything else is connected with a ribbon cable. I can't use any wires because it'* a ribbon. Any from what I know, you can't tap a ribbon cable. Even if I could, there are no colors on the ribbon.

I wonder if someone makes a usable wiring harness for the ribbon wire connector?

Apparently, this is the harness:

And this is a thread that discusses the problem:
