Default 6x9 question

If i replace my rear stock speakers with a pair of 350 watt pioneer/sony 6x9'* will it have a hard time being driven by my 50 watts x 4 head unit and the amp for the gain control? Will it have good bass noise or not? What would be the reccomended wattage speaker i should use? Or will i also have to get a seperate amp for the speakers. Right now im not looking to spend a lot of money or have MEGA bass ( that will come later ). Right now im just concerned about my stock speakers and them popping because of my aftermarket head unit. Please let me know what ya think!

dude, trust me your head unit won't blow your factory speakers. I'd just go with upgrading it all at once, I am not sure how hard it will be to wire it up.. since you have factory speakers, aftermarket head unit, and aftermarket 6x9'*..

Are you using the gain amp in parallel with the head unit outputs? Sounds fishy to me, could you explain how you wired it up? Your aftermarket cd WILL power your new 6x9 fairly well, not as good as a seperate amp, but you will have more bass than before.

you shouldn't have any proble adding those speakers, that wattage rated for those 6x9'* sounds good, your deck will be fine, get them cause if you planning on ampimg them later, it'* a better to spend a little more now, than have to replace again after your new amp just blew your cheepy some what new 6x9'*

Hey opensourceguy, I've blown several stock speakers on an aftermarket Alpine and Pioneer.head units. I've learned my lesson. My best advice would be to replace all speakers and headunit at same time, if you want a good change in sound and bass response, this along with setting up your system to add a sub(*) now or later if at all.

wow, I didn't know that could happen. 200watts and the speakers aren't 5 watts a piece.. oh well, I stand corrected.

Right not i dont have much money, i just spent most of it on my new cd player and i dont have a job yet ( im 15 and dont have the time because i might be on my highschool varsity football team). So it will make better sound than my stock speakers now without an extra amp? Will i be able to control the power of them with the gain control like the stock 6x9'*? Let me know!

p.*. Justin, my stock speakers if i turn the loud on high and the gain all the way up will fart like they just spent the day eating burritos.

sounds like some equalizer settings are not right... I could be wrong though. Does your head unit have an equalizer? A lot of the $200+ ones do, but even some of the $400 ones don't.

What is the difference between 2-way, 3-way, and 4-way speakers? Would it make any difference what type i get? If so, what would work the best?

I don't know the differences, or the definition of one, but what I do know is 4-way is the best. Also the most expensive. Personally I wouldn't go for anything other than the best, look at it as an investment, because if you buy cheap, its very possible you'll have problems, either overheating, blowing, distortion.. stuff you don't want.

As far as I know when they say 3 way.. there'* your standar 6x9'* with 2 tweeters on it to cover the higher frequency so you the woofer of the 6x9 will carry the bass better without distorting early.. 4 ways are 3 tweeters ( or 2 tweeters and a mid range.. whatever you'd like to call them ) which refines that more.. they generally stick out from the the center of the speaker on it'* lil tubular stand. Which is better.. well.. obviously more is better.. but @ same token, pending on the music you listen to and the pocket book. Me.. meh.. went with 2 ways 6x9'* in rears ( like I really will be back there listening to music in my own car anyways )
