Unhappy Tape player problems

Okay so I get in the car and go for a cruise. The tape deck starts to freak out. It has been saying that it needs to be cleaned, but I don't use it that much. Now it says that there is a tape in it and there isn't...so it tries to eject the "tape". It finally stops trying to eject the tape. The next day I get in and it starts the samething only this time it makes a constant grinding sound as it tries to eject the "tape". I would kinda like to listen to the radio, but it won't even let me go to the CD...what is the matter with this thing now... I would like to keep the stock HU if an aftermarket would mean loosing alot of the things like the warnging chimes, and the power off when you open the doors. If I did get a new HU I'd like to find an affordable touchscreen with Nav. that would work while letting me still have all of the options on the car work....What do I do?
