I ran those in my Montero with some Walmart 6.5ers. But why in your case? You do that, you will lose bass response...big time...unless you are running subs. If you are subbing and you go that route with the plates, I would seriously consider 2 things: 1) A crossover or bass-blocker and 2) Baffles to keep the subs SPL from toasting the deck speakers. I have crossovers even on my 6x9s, passed at 300Hz to help them last longer in my car with the volume turned up (running subs at that freq and below, so no gaps in sound)

Compnents would probably sound really good. Just build a large sealed box for each of them and fill it with sound insulation. If you use 6 1/2s you wont lose all your bass. Plus subs of course, i would say sealed with a high x-over.

in most cases, with a component set with a simple midrange and tweeter, the tweeter wont even need an enclosure and the midrange will only need a baffle behind it. when ur building boxes, rememeber that sound insalation makes the speaker think that the box is bigger
