Remote starter/ factory keyless entry
hey everyone, i just got a python 1400xp installed in my car but the place didnt hook up the trunk release or the horn output, they also didnt incorportate the factory alarm, they told me if i wanted to use it i would have to carry around the old remote. Basically what im looking to do is locate and hookup the trunk release and also hook up the horn. If anyone tell me the best way to do this it would help. I need the location of the factory alarm too.
Is this gonna be possible to do myself. I have a good knowledge of electronics i just dont know where everything is and how to hook it up to the new alarm.
this is the install manual for my alarm http://www.abtelectronics.com/images...N562P_6-03.pdf[/url]

H1/10 BROWN (-) HORN H0NK OUTPUT - black small gauge wire under steering column
H1/12 RED/WHITE (-)200 mA CHANNEL 2 VALIDITY OUTPUT - wire to relay to trigger +12v to heavy gauge black/white in left sill harness. NOTE: you may also be able to connect directly to light blue wire in left sill harness. TEST with test light first.
H2/4 LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (-) FACTORY DISARM - light green wire in drivers door jamb boot
H4/1 GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK - red/black in drivers door jamb boot (lock negative trigger)
H4/3 BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK - orange/black in drivers door jamb boot (unlock negative trigger)
Thanks for posting a link to your install manual. We should find someone who is able and willing to host these for future reference.

ok thanks but can u be alittle more specific with the trunk release. where exactly is the wire and is that all i need to hook it up....thanks alot for the other info
also is there wires with the same color in the door jam or under the steering colum, i ran into a problem with my radio because there was so many similar wires. i just dont want to connect the wrong things.

Well, there'* two ways to do it.
Usuall way:
Locate the heavy gauge black/white wire in the left sill harness (under the carpet between the drivers seat and door opening). You'll have to open the wire loom up and dig around a little to find the right wire. You should also verify that you have found the right one by using a test light. When you probe the wire, it should show +12v when the car is in park, the trunk valet is off and the release button is pressed. Once the correct wire is verified, wire up a relay in the following way:
85 - red/white wire from alarm/starter
86 - +12v constant
87 - fused (15 amp) +12v constant (use at least 14 gauge wire for this one)
30 - connect to vehicle'* black/white wire you found in the step above
Other way:
Locate a smaller gauge light blue wire in the same area as the black/white wire described above. There'* probably a couple light blue wires so you definately need to verify it. Using a test light again, probe the light blue wire. If it'* the correct one then you'll hear the trunk release solenoid activate providing the car is in park and the trunk valet is off. Once the correct wire is verified, simply connect the red/white wire from the alarm/starter directly to the light blue.
What'* the difference??? The usuall way is activating the trunk release solenoid directly by using an additional relay where as the other way is using the factory relay. The usuall way is more difficult to wire up but will pop the trunk regardless of the trunk release valet switch position where as the other way will not pop the trunk if the valet switch is on.
NOTE: the test light described in the above testing procedures is a standard incandecent bulb type. Electronic type test lights will not test the light blue wire correctly

No, it'* black. It'* not in the primary ignition wire group. Look for several wires attached together side by side to kinda look like a ribbon cable. They will plug into a 10 cavity (?) connector close to the column. It should be in that group

yeah i would complain, but the thing is i jsut started working there (circuit city) and the manager already doesnt like me. but anyways. im doin the trunk release this afternoon and hopefully that will go smothely. i noticed that they didnt do the illuminated entry and the defrost isnt hooked up also. so if anyone could tell me where those wires are it be nice.
by the way it cost 195 total.... employee discount saved me about 120
i think i could of done it by myself. its really not to hard, eventually i want to do the window roll up module. that would be cool. does anyone have any experience with that?
