I was planing on getting a type r speakers all aorund to be run by my alpine head unit . Does anyone have any comments to make about alpine and or the new type r speakers?

are you planning on adding a sub? if not these would be pretty good. if you were planning on adding a sub, a more tingy higher frequency speaker would be more effective...like Boston Pros. Either way, these speaks seem to be a great bang for you buck deal!

Ive never been a fan of midrange speakers. Putting the Type R'* next to my kappas Or next to my friends JL Audio'* they didn't sound very good. I mean they were ok but they didn't get loud enough for me. (My kappas don't get loud enough either lol. But then again im deaf). They wern't as clear as I hoped either.

I would say you could get better. Whatever you do don't do retail. Retail=Rip. My speakers together were like 500 bux retail and I got them for about 250. New in Box =).

As for the Type R Sub I do like those. I would get a pair of 12'* Would be pretty decent.

Ive been told buy audio tecs and others that alpine works best with other alpine products . IE head unit, speakers,sub and amp.

Also there are alot of variables - pitch , range, and depth of sound.
Diferent types of music demand diferent ranges.

Do your home work and you wont be dissapointed.

Ok. I don't know who you are asking. If you go into a store and ask 90% of the time theyre going to talk only about what they carry (Obviously because they want to move their products).

Its nice to have a car thats all one manufactuer but its not really practical. Because some manufactuers make awesome subs. And ultra crappy speakers. And even worse HU'*.

A Speaker is a speaker. All speakers should cover the same ranges that the human ear can pickup. That doesnt mean theyre all equal however. Their is the tweeter material (You may get a lighter or brighter highs depending on the tweeter material), And the overall craftsmanship of the Speaker as a whole. Some of the Best Comp speaker sets have been made by Diamond Audio, Rainbow, Focals. But theyre expensive. You can get things like JL Audio, Infinity Kappa'*, Boston Acoustics more in the mid price range. To be honest with you I have listen to Alpine Type-R'*, Kickers, RF, Pioneer, Sony And I thought for the price they wanted and the quality they put out they were Cra*. Expecially put next to my Kappas Or my friends JL. Even my roomate who runs Audiobahns Gets more clean music out of them. Im not saying those brands are a total waste. I think the Type-R'* and Kickers are "OK" Speakers. But for the price some places want them for I could show you where to get Infinity cheaper. Unless your getting a REALLY good deal I wouldent go for it.

As far as Crutchfeild. Theyre is no debate that they arent very knoledgeable people. And their website, Customer service, And warranty is awesome. But once again REALLY overpriced. If I bought all my equipment I have in my car now I probably would have ended up over $650 For my front stage, rear stage, and sub. But Since I looked around I got them all at once place new for $350. So be sure to shop around.

But I agree. Be sure to do your homework on them. If you find some you like get independant reviews. Ask people who have them how they sound. And be sure to listen to them. IN A CAR! Lots of times speakers sound a lot diffrent once in your car. Thats usually an issue of install and staging though (Even the most expensive $750 set of Diamond Audo comps can sound like crap if not installed and staged properly).

A "Stage" Just refers to placment of the speakers. The Front two are usually refered to as the "Front Stage" And the rear speakers are usually called the "Rear Stage". Lots of people call them rear fill as well.

Also staging has to do with the placement of those speakers to give the best sound. Some people put them in the doors of the car. Some make custom kick panels. Some put the mid in the car door then put the tweet in the upper door frame. Or make a custom bar going across the dash for them.

I know for my bonnie having the speakers in the door is definitly hard to ballance. If I lean a little forward its good ballance but still off. It would prolly be best if I could put a kicker panel in for a mid down there and then either do a tweeter bar or put them in the door frame. But I can't find anyone who makes a kicker panel for Bonnevilles. So I just havethem in the stock location . Theyre still ok, But I know they could be better.

when u said type r speakers, werent u talkin about subwoofers? cuz thats the only type r i know of, and when i heard them, properly powered that is, they friggin pounded and were very high quality sound. i think if you want some very nice subs at a moderate price, type r'* are a very good option! gl

I was talking about the speakers. They have a line called the "R-Series". And then they have subs that are the "Type-R" Subs. So I just call them both "Type-R". Like I said the R-Series is ok, But theyre is better bang for the buck.

As far as the Type-R Subs. Theyre good SQ Subs. And are decent for their price. But by no means wonders hehe. They don't do a lot of SPL and can't get super loud. Once again for the price you could step up to something better. A Pair of dual 2 or 4 Ohm Alpine Type-R subs would be 400 Bucks at Crutchfeild. I could get 2 Kicker 12L7'* for the same $$$ And they would be MUCH louder. Still have good SQ as well. In a proper box you could look close to 150 DB with a pair of em.

Thats just one option. Way better choice same $$$. You have lots of other places you could look too.

A Pair of Infinity Kappa Perfects. Theyre Awesome if you need "Perfect" SQ.

Im not trying to take away from the Type-R'*. Theyre a great entry level sub. And if your just looking for a daily driver that will give you a little bump, Nothing major. Then they would prolly be great for you. Just don't pay too much for them. Shops are rip offs. And so are some etailers. (400 Bux is way too much for those). So check around for prices.
