ARE THEY STUPID?
ok, today i went looking for a new cd player, went to best buy but they werent doing installations so i went to circut city and bought a cd player and aftyer 30 mins of them fooling around in my car they tell me i have to upgrade all my speakers to or it will burn out the cdplayer or something....its that true or are they just dumb?...please any feed back on this asap please

Theyre probably dumbasses. You should check to see if they screwed anythign up while they were in there. You do NOT need new speakers, but it would make a big difference. Using stock speakers will NOT damage your cd player.

my guess is that they said that due to the impedence of the stock speakers. on my 92, the rear stocks are 10 ohms, when most headunits are designed to run at 4. i know it really doesnt make sense that a higher resistance would cause a burnout, but im just speculating.

They might not be as stupid as you think actually if you have the BOSE system in your car... Bose speakers have wierd impedenances compared to many other speakers. I've heard that if you change one bose component to non-bose then you basically have to change them all.

It might be best if you bought it and installed it yourself, its really not that complicated. There are more than enough people to guide you through it on this site. People have installed aftermarket headunits with stock speakers a million times over and have never had a problem. He is probly just trying to get you to spend more money
