Default Rear speaker install help

Hey, all, I'm wondering how easy it is to replace the rear speakers in my '03 Malibu....if I have to remove the whole rear package shelf cover, the rear seat....since I got a new set of front & rear speakers from my wife for our wedding anniversary yesterday. The front ones should be easy, but, I'm not sure about the rears. Hopefully someone can give me some info on this....thanks in advance!

stick your head under the rear deck in the trunk you should be able to see how they attach. on the last two montes ive had the upper seat bolts have to come out and the package tray lid then the speakers were clipped into a plastic extension thing. they had tip down rear seats so you could get to the bolts if yours doesnt you probably have to take the whole seat out. i dont know why they made it so difficult and made it so you can take the head unit in about 5 seconds

Well, an update on my speaker installation....it has been completed. What I had to do is, remove the rear seat, and, lift up the rear package shelf just enough to remove the old & install the replacement speakers. They sound really good, although, I do need to get an amp. I plan on replacing the front speakers this weekend, and, hopefully, the front door panels will be easier...lol

harbor freight has a tool for like 5 bucks that is a pry bar with a groove that makes saving the little plastic trees very easy
