Default Sirrus in Canada?

I was looking at a satalite web site where there was link to a crtc ruling allowing a deal between cbc canada and sirrus satalite radio. What first caught my attention was the local stereo shop is selling Pioneer sirrus radios for $500 (way too much even cdn$).

Anyone in canada have this radio?

How do they activate it, is there a way around this?

my mom looked into it for her SUV, turns out it is indeed illegal in Canada
Hasn't been approved by some federal agency ( Jim knows the name )
Kinda sux! I want it bad!!
I was told in order to have it you must have a US mailing adress, or know someone in the states,u send money to them, they buy it, send it up to you, you make your monthly payments in USD.

That is very similar to the dispute between canada and satellite broadcasting companies. They are not allowed to sell their service in canada, but they were not illegal. Therefore, alot of people hacked into the system and got it for free.

I heard that SIRIUS will soon be available in Canada! So, there'* something to look out for. Because of how XM placed their satellites, I'm not even sure than can offer Canadians their streams. Who knows.

Here'* some info:
