Finally got my radio installed!
My brother gave me his old Pioneer DEH-P75DH CD player when he replaced the console in his Avenger with one from an Eclipse(same platform, so same dash, but console is different [Eclipse uses double-DIN-E, Avenger has ISO-DIN like ours]).
It'* about five years old, but well taken care of, and better than a stock unit.
Problem was, it only had ONE mounting bracket, for a MOPAR.
So I called Pioneer and ordered the bracket that I needed.
Bracket came in, wrong bracket!!! Somehow they screwed up and instead of the mounting brackets, I got a trim-plate-to-case bracket!
Called Pioneer again, sorted things out. Turns out I had to order the entire mounting kit that came with the radio, which was almost $20 more than I already paid.
However, they said they'd knock what I'd paid for the first, wrong bracket(including shipping) off the price for the mounting kit, and didn't require me to return the first bracket(and thus nickel out for shipping). So, had to wait for an extra week, but they did make their mistake right.
Anyway, got the right brackets, got the wiring harness, realised I had no ideawhat went where. Wires on the harnes kit were labeled, but wires on the back of the radio weren't! So, called Pioneer AGAIN, took the poor girl on the help line half an hour to find the right manual, because my radio was two wire-color-code-set-changes ago.
So had the right brackets, got the harness sorted, realised that antenna wire didn't fit.
Went to Best Buy got adapter.
Finally ready to put in dash, WOULDN"T FIT!!! The screws for the mounting brackets stuck out just a little too far.
**** it.
Went and got big-*** round rasp, filed two slots in the right places, jammed it in.
IT FIT!!!!!!
Then I stripped one of those gods-damned little fasteners while Iwas screwing everthing back in. Oh, well.

Why can't just ONE of my projects go EXACTLY as planned? Just once?
Any way, it'* in, and right off the bat, no adjustments, it already sounds so much better than the stock unit. Can't wait until I can get those component 6x8s for the back.
How many ways do you think I can **** THAT up?

Why are you going with the component 6X8 comps, when you can just put a 2 or 3- way 6X9 in the back? I had thought about the component in the back........ maybe make a custom bracket and a 6.5 component system

1.) I already have an 8-speaker system, why give that up?
2.) 2- and 3-way speakers scatter sound and don't provide as good a stereo image as components.
3.) A 2-/3-way speaker is generally a midrange and a tweeter, without any kind of crossover. Most component sets include a woofer, a tweeter, and a crossover, which means better sound quality.
4.) The way a 2-/3-way speaker would sit in a 92-99 Bonnie, it would fire all the sound at the rear glass. This is good for bass, bad for treble. The stock 8-speaker system aims the midrange/woofer at the glass and the tweeter forward, for the best sound quality.

There will eventually be component speakers in all the stock locations, and a 12" or 15" sub in the trunk, firing through the rear pass-through. The whole thing will look completely stock with the rear armrest up, except for the head unit.

And our cars won't take a 6x9 without cutting, the right size is a 6x8 in the rear.

The base stereo used 6" speakers in the rear, with the same plastic pod-thingy as the 6x8, but had a metal adapter plate to hold the speaker.
