It is great that you got a display that is brand new after having to go through the trouble you had.

Can I disconnect radio?
Hi. I just bought a used 2001 Bonneville and half of the display on the radio is out. I read a lot on this forum and I believe the bulbs behind the display may be out. I want to try replacing the lights/LEDs but if I disconnect the radio, and then reconnect it later, will that lock the radio? I do not have any locking codes, so I'm afraid to disconnect the radio.
Also is there a way to find the locking code on my radio just in case I need it later?
Thanks.

I have a 2000 bonneville ssei, I'm not sure if they have the same radio (I would imagine they do) but if you are talking about the LCD display on the radio that displays the time, there are three LED'* behind the lcd that light up orange. Just replace the LED'* that are burned out and you are good to go. As for the Radio locking up...I have already taken the radio out about 4 times now and it has worked perfectly everytime I put it back together.

They actually aren't LEDs, or chances are they wouldn't have burnt out in the first place. They can be replaced with LEDs, but I have seen complaints of the light not distributing evenly.
