As I said before, I feel naked without my radar detector. That'* crazy what they are doing in your area. One trick I was told when I used to drive my truck across the country was to carry a large self addressed bubble envelope. If you get pulled over, put the radar in the envelope. From there it is supposed to be federal property and illegal for them to open. Worst they can do is mail it to you. I never tried it personally, and can not guarantee the legalities. It may work if the cop doesn't see your detector though.

Otherwise it sounds like you need to invest in a whistler like Dan mentioned, or my personal preferance is a Escort 9500ci. Stealth installation and completely undetectable by any radar. I've seen 5 installs and the vehicle owners always come back and say how awesome the product is and that they would recommend it to anyone. I'll be getting one eventually.

I administrate gtcars.ca. And an avid reader of car news/happenings. So know of what the scene is there that brought on the crackdown. And I feel you present a narrow onesided view here. The tuner crowd up there has gone fanatic and innocent people are dying. And uninsured/underinsured property damage has insurance companies losing money hand over fist. Hard to see this as an "Income Tactic" considering all the factors that brought on the Legislation that demanded the crackdown. Not saying or suggesting your a part of that in any way, but the problem is real. And authorities other than the Police reacted to a bad problem. Maybe you live in an area outside that scene, but laws are naturally province or (In the US) State wide. It'* not just Ontario, I assure you. NY is pretty down on speeders and litter also. Public perception of law breakers is narrowing all over, and Legislators react to public sentiment as well as lining their pockets.

In a Forum you are just as likely to get opinions of what you ask about, as to what you asked. Add to that what your asking for is for the Forum to help you do something illegal. Wont find alot of support or logistics of helping you out. As I understand it, they can confiscate it, impound the car, and sentence you to some time in jail if caught. Couple that to the fact the equipment needs to be somewhere other than say, under a dash to work effectively and your asking something that is the general consensus here that you shouldn't attempt it. Sounds to me like you got advice you need, not what you want. People telling you it'* a bad idea from the start.

ooh, I wasn't aware what was going on over there. If the price of saving a few lives is cracking down on speeders, then so be it. Still unfortunate you can't have a radar detector. I find them to be useful for more than just not getting speeding tickets. Most emergency vehicles have radars on when they are pursuing or running with their lights on. Mine will pick them up a good mile or two away in town and put me on the lookout so I can get out of the way.

Ya, it'* sad that Authorities go anal to all because a situation exist of a narrow group if idiots. Causing them to react due to public/media outrage. But they have to react and unfortunately it usually turns into a broad hindrance to all and doesnt slow the group targeted. Maybe they should apply the new "stiffness" to only those who have a fart can and wing. ROFL!!! And think they can careen through the streets of Toronto unhindered at crazy speeds without killing and maiming.

Speaking of fart cans and big wings, I heard a car yesterday that literally put a funny look on my face and made me sniff the air for a second. I wish I could have recorded it.
