Default problems since i installed a head unit and speakers

Since I have installed new 4x6 speakers in the front and a head unit, i have been having some problems with my car. Every time I open the drivers door, my car makes the sound that I left my lights on. At first all I did was turn my lights on and then right off and that stopped the noise. Now, it just keeps going until I close the door. Another problem I have had is, at night time, if I roll a window up or down, i can see all the lights in my car dim for a sec. Anyone know how to solve either of these problems?

Check if you grounded it correctly. A voltmeter should help.

Don't know what to tell ya on that first problem. With the dimming lights, however, that sounds like you have a battery that is fixing to konk out and/or the alternator. Have both of them checked out at any auto parts store that does free diagnostic on those.

Did you install the HU yourself, or did you have it installed? im thinking it may have to do with the illumination wire. Not sure.

As far as the dimming, did this also started after the HU and speaker install?

Consider checking the ground buss that is located along the door sill (on the inside) for corossion. It could be a very possible place for a weak ground causing the lights to dim and such.

I installed the head unit one night, and the next night I installed the speakers. Later on that night my car started acting up really bad. I brought it to a trusted mechanic and at first he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. It magically fixed itself. Then the next week (this past week) my car died on me at school and my mechanic said it was the starter so i got it rebuilt. The alternator has been checked out several times and everyone said it is fine.

The head unit and speakers were installed by my friends cousin who installs systems for a living. The illumination wire was hooked up to my head unit when it was being installed. When the head unit was installed everything was fine. After the speakers were installed is when I started having problems.
