rattling
when i had my last system the licence plate holder rattled like crazy and ended up breaking. im wondering if anyone has had that problem and if so how they fixed it. also, there is somthing in the trunk lid that rattles, is there any thing in the lid like wires or somthing?

I always use foam padded tape or weather stripping on my license plate and the frame so they don't rattle, as for the rest, it'* almost always something plastic. Only way to tell is to get in there and listen.

My 91 is a pita to get all the rattles out....
I've dynomatted the trunk and trunk lid, then I've sprayed.... I forget how many cans I used but it was at least 4 or 5.
I've put padded tape behind the LP....
That took out 75% or so of the rattle...
The LP holder still rattles, but I'm pretty sure I can get ride of most of that.
But it'* the trunk/lock/latch that I can't fix.... and have no idea how-to.
Also if you have a spoiler that'* going to rattle a bit too... I took mine off and put padded tape on it where it connects to the trunk.

I hear that the spray mat really needs 3-4-5 coats to do a good job coming from the stereo shop that I hang out at time-2-time. The like good old sheets of dynamate extreme, next the like to fill in potential areas with expanding foam. I'm going to try this foam on parts of my rear deck, can't seem to stop certain things from rattling that are TOATLLY dynamted. things just flex.
They warn me that with the foam will expand a WHOLE lot, I want to do where the rear deck meets the glass, the say cover EVERTHING and expect drips out the other side, takes 5-10 seconds and bam that little thin bead is 4-5in. to deal with, starts to harden in 30seconds and it'* set. Can be cut easily with a razor blade, but I've been warned try to lay the thinnest bead you can, practice alittle on some cardboard first to get a hang of the stuff.

Vibration is a function of resonant or natural frequency.
What you are trying to do is take the natural frequency of a part that is vibrating, outside the frequency range of your speakers.....or your hearing. Very hard to do when your system has a very wide frequency range and you are younger enough to hear all the way down to 20 or 30 hz. As an example, flourescent lights hum at 60 hz.
To lower the natural frequency of a vibrating part, you have to give it mass. Like with dynomatt.
.....or just try turning down the volume.

I used the ewxpanding foam on my '91. Didnt realize how much itll expand. Put a small amount on and it actually pushed the trunk lid up a little bit. The only way I got to stop the trunk flip latch was to bend it out a little bit.
