I am switching because i would like tighter bass when i listen to rock and metal. seems very good right now but a ported box just can not stop the woffer as fast as a sealed box so they sound sloppy. And it is a lot more difficult to build and get right. i do not want to have spent 800.00 on a sub and put it in a box that was built 1/2" off and sound like crap. i think sealed is just a lot easier to build, tune and sounds better

Good call there, wise decision, sealed is always my advice.

Where you plan on putting the box in your trunk? Sub facing thru the center rear arm rest by any chance? or facing the trunk?

the plan is to have it facing thr front coming thru the arm rest. i hope it sounds okay it is facing the rear right now and in a ported box. i feel like this sub would sound killer if it was strapped to the roof though and am not to worried yet.

lol, I'm betting you will hear a change though, it won't be as loud to you but will sound cleaner. You'll be happy with that placement though, not much different than mine.

Hey you got me thinking, what are you putting on the front part of the box where the sub goes in? because, I can't find a pic right now which bums me of my Aurora with one 12w6v2 in the same spot. The front of the box was not carpet but rest was, the front was the simulated alloy stuff like my W7 logo in my trunk. Just add a layer to the front of the box, the metallic look is quite nice than black carpet, kicking myself for not doing that to my current box, maybe I'll get it done though. On top of that there were 2 6in. mini-neons that relfected off it (couldn't see the bulb) and looked great.

I recently just add 2 mini-neons to shine on my w7'* from the front, I actually don't have a pic of it yet, hey, I have a digi cam, I'll go take one now and show you/everyone.

I'll find a pic this week of my Aurora setup with it, but look into covering the front of box with something nice, you can carpet the rest. What'* your plan? since your going plexi back, you could just cover the rest of the box with something nice, it will be different than plan old grey carpet, I don't know why I choose Black carpet for my current install, looks good, kick my self for not going vinyl maybe same silver or close to as my car is. Carpet is more durable for a floor than vinyl, I do use my trunk sometimes, If I scuffed the vinyl, I'd be pissed.

Pic coming here in 5 minutes

Alright can't find a pic of the aurora, damn, Not looking good for finding it.

Go here for neon on sub pics http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=18113

Anyways the meterial that the box was covered with on the front was like the silver box inlay, big piece in the middle and w7 logo

Check out Select Products for the Plexiglass. They even have a tutorial for working with plexiglass.

wow i love the arm rest with the neons. i feel neons are very cool if you never see the buld. i love the glow but to see the bulb looks cheap. it makes me think that they where just screwed to the surface and pluged into the cig lighter. i am into makeing everything look invisible. i had planned to cover the from of the box in carpert but nothing fancy because i figured that you will not see much with the 12" sub centered in there. i am going to open the hole up now though and remove the trap door so when you lower the arm rest it is just open. as far as for the rest of my trunk i am planning on leather. i use my trunk but i am going to leave the net. it seems to be perfect so far and the sub is facing the trunk not the seat.

I totaly agree about neon, I don't want to see the bulb or it looks shitty in my opinion. I like the little bit of neon I got going, doubt I'll add much more.

Leather huh, very curious to see what you come up with. You should consider putting something on the front, it'* not that expensive and will defintly add to that custom look and touch, especially since your taking down part off the arm rest and more of the sub will be visiable.

So what'* your time line till you get cracking here? What color carpet and leather btw?

i have a new idea for the front....plexi mirror and then the neons will be super brite. the neon palacement will be important so you do no see them in the mirror but other then that i think it will be bad a$$. i have the dark pewter color paint with Tan interior so i think i am going to go with the same color leather on the sides behind the amp and the part of the sub box that is covered. i plan on showing a lot of the inside of the box with the mirrors so it looks deep every direction. then for the floor i want to do something diffrent because this is my family car for right now. i may do tweed or something old school with a raised jl audio logo in the middle. i have already started. the amp racks are built and they are in the car. just need the leather panels to finish. i am in the process of making up my mind on the box so i have not started it yet. i have had to stop on this car and work on my trans am i needed a new optispark and it has been a real pain. should have it done this weekend though and then it is back to the bonneville. just thought of somthing. if i do mirrors on the front of the box they will reflect the back of the seat. if i paint the seat back black the mirror will not reflect anything but what is in front of the arm rest right?

I agree on both but with plexi mirror on the front of the box, would look cool, but I'd agee it would reflect the back of the seat for sure. Mines black already, but I also think you really wouldn't be able to mount the neons anywhere, where the bulb wouln'd be seen. I'd lean toward my original suggestion of using a brushed metal look some how, it will still shine and be bright and reflect neons great, just not show any wiring our bulbs and will help get a cleaner look easier.

For you amp rack, how you got them, one on each side of the box or over/under next to it. Sounds like your are doing I nice job, clean, little extra touches and nice leather to finish off. I'd recomend making yourself a cover like mine to fit in the box to cover/protect the plexi for when you have something in the trunk. Heaven for bid it gets scratched.
