Default speaker suggestions?

I recently replaced my factory deck with a sony cd player. Now the weak link is my front speakers. (I have slightly upgraded the 6x9'*) I am looking for a two-way component system. What models would be good for the money? I don't want to spend over $250 canadian. I'm not trying to win any SQ awards I just want cleaner sound.
Also, what would be the best 6x9 speakers (at a reasonable price) that i could buy as far as bass? I don't really want to bother with subs..

I prefer the pioneer. the Bass out of the 6x9'* are just like subs. and the 5 1/4s for the front are 2 way, a tweeter and a woofer cone.

they are like 49.00 for the 5 1/4

you can check cruchfield.com and read some reviews on the pioneers

Look for the Pionner speakers at Walmart, If you know the ones you want you can get them reletively cheap.

Really??? I hadn't considered that option (over buying a sub & amp), but it would be a lot easier than adding equipment. What model Pioneers are you referring to?

well pioneer has 3 models -3,4, and 5 way speakers. I think that the 3 way may give the best bass and they are pioneer model TS-A6960R
another 3 was that can handle more power are TS-A6970R
4 way are TS-A6980R
and the 5 way are TS-A6990R

Does anyone make a 6x9 component system with a seperate cone and tweeter? Also would it make a big difference in sound quality if the front and rear speakers were from different manufacturers?

It would be helpful to match manufacturers when going with two pairs of speakers, but definitely not necessary.

As far as the 6x9s go, all of them produce decent bass. Go with a speaker that is highly sensitiive (90db or better) and you'll be fine.

Anyone know the specs on the stock rear 6x9'*, as far as what kind of improvement would be offered by aftermarket Pioneers (or any other brand for that matter)?

if you have the bose then you are better than the stock but you have to remember that GM audio in one of the best of factory equipment. When my dad went to GM Audio School they told him that GM build small amps into the factory recivers. that is why that are so large. Since the radios push more power that means the speakers also have to handle more power.

Some may say Infintiy is better but they just have higs and mids NO BASS at all for FACTORY stuff.

aftermarket is a diferent story

No 6x9 can compete with a subwoofer

That being said, pioneer isn't the best either. They're a good brand if you're trying to keep the costs down. If you're considering component speakers, they will sound better with that deck for sure, but if you add an amplifier to power them, they'll sing. Infinity, rockford, JL, all are good mid range buys.

www.discountsjungle.com is a good place with great deals too!
