speakers
ok what a pain in the *** that was. I decide to change the back speakers in the bonnie. Now I have done alot of sterio work in the past but this was too much. I tell you what is with the four wires going to the rears makes it a big pain in the ***. I finally got it but I am not impressed. I am thinking about removing that factory amp and starting from new.

What audio system do you have. I know from just general knowledge if you have the one with factory amp, and multiple cables for each speaker you are gonna pretty much keep it all stock, or do the entire system. The factory amp won't work with a new head unit, and the new speakers will sound like shiznit on the factory amp, cause it'* not a std amp. I'd say get a new deck, and rip eveything out, and get a nice set of components in the front. Kinda glad i got the tape and EQ deck but no amp or anything. makes upgrading a lot easier.

well from my experience i had the factory amp hooked up to my deck..b.ut it went outoh well...i changed my back speakers...it was a breeze...probably the easiest job ive done...all you need is a speaker wire harness and it just plugs and connects...its as simple as that...w/ after market speakers its real easy...but now i have the rears hooked up to a jensen 200 amp and they sound really good...so...i got polks if your interested....good luck any more questions ask...!

What??
I have the factory amp with gain controls, changed out the factory 6x9'* for infinity, they sound great just like they stock did with gain control at max. I'm waiting for my 5 1/4 infinity components today, for the doors. My advice to anyone is to stay with the stock head unit, it'* much less hassle and it just looks much better, or get a factory monsoon system from a firebird, those are very good, and they hook up, and if you want big bass, hook up a two channel amp to the "sub outs" that are really for the sub input on the stock rears, and hook them too subs. Don't try to bridge the factory amp into one sub, or even one channel or you will eventually fry your entire system, trust me. That amp is not bridgeable directly from it. You may be able to get a 4 channel amp and bridge it into two for more power though, that shouldn't affect the factory amp, and the good part about it is the gain control will control the sub so you don't have to screw around with the aftermarket amps in your trunk to get the right setting, and you can adjust them right from your seat.
But do what you please, that is just my suggestion. I would also recommend Infinity to EVERYONE. They are one of the best audio companies for a reasonable cost for most people. Anyways, i think i've typed enough..

Infinity is made by harmon, and so is jbl, they share many things, but not all, They do have nice mobile setups, but their home stuff does leave a little to be desired imho. Turning up the gain all the way can cause distortion. THe infinities will take more power then the factory ones, so pumping that much distortion can blow them. Using a speaker lead for a sub is nice if you want to keep a factory look, but speaker outputs aren't nearly as clean as an input for an amp then a pre out. Depending on your setup this can matter and then it doesnt mean anything.
