independent car audio manufacturers that will give you more
Hey guys, I have been looking at alot of post here that were based on people trying to decide what subs, amps, or components that would be a good fit for their car. I wanted to tell you all about a few sites that I frequent that will give you a great deal on even greater products. If you are anything like me, you always want to get the most for your money and honestly on amplifiers alone, it is pretty hard to feel like you have(especially if you buy JL). Two of the best independent companies that I know of are Elemental Designs, and Sundown audio. Elemental designs is a company that is based more on SQ for their speakers. I bought their top of the line components for $195.00 but they normally go for about $250 or a bit more, but they are well worth the money. They sound better than JL, and even a few MB Quart sets that I have heard and at half the cost.... Alot of guys are looking for amps... Their mono block as rated at 1200x1 at 12.5 volts! The price for it... $365.00 oh and by the way, all of their product comes with a 5 year warranty. They also carry great do it yourself sound deadner and subs. They have an SPL 15" woofer that a guy hit 150db'* with, and that was with just one sub. They also carry 6and 1/2 woofers that a guy competed with. He had four in his box and hit 149db'*. I just wanted to share this info with you guys that are interested in doing any upgrades or just out looking for a descent set up for dirt cheap. Call their tech guys too. They are cool as hell and easy to talk to

oh and if you shop at crutchfield, I strongly reccomend going to www.woofersetc.com, www.sounddomain.com, www.hifisoundconnection.com, www.hookedontronics.com and www.sonicelectronix.com you can get all of the mainstream name brands there for dirt cheap. For those of you that already know about these sites, I apologize. I just want to make sure that those that want a system but don't have alot of money know about other ways to go about getting what they always wanted. Then, with the money you guys save, maybe you can donate a bit to the bonneville club... Just a thought

I managed to "skip" through that whole post without mentioning CDT and other small companies for the following reasons:
A. I have researched CDT and the only components that I found comperable to the price range that I and most people shop in had woofers with paper cones, and if i wanted a paper cone I would have just kept my factory speakers in.
B. As mentioned in the previous reason, I don't own CDT or any of those other small companies, so I wouldn't want to post about something I don't have.
C. I have never heard CDT in anyones car, so I can't even give an honest opinion as to the quality of it(except for the fact that I did some research on it and I did not like what I read about it).
D. Even if I did know about a bunch of other independents, my first post would have ben much longer.
If you have experience with some other companies, maybe you should post it and give everyone a few more ideas of products to look at... And as for you comment about me sounding like a salesmen... Maybe I came across that way because it is exciting to me to get a great product at a great price but im not telling everyone about it so I can make money. I just felt like it was little things like sharing your knowledge (in whatever aspect of cars it may be) with the group was one of the ways to make a contribution to everyone. I don't understand how you would confuse that with sounding like a salesmen but I apologize for not making that a little clearer for you. Thanks for pointing that out

My ( and other'*) opinions about CDT have been stated before around the forum.
The prices listed on their website are not even close to what they can be gotten for.
No appology needed, I was just stating what I thought.

some things about eD have bothered me, i've read abotu some questionable business practices, and I don't like some of the stuff that'* available when they feel like making it. Maybe that was a while ago.
I've got a Diamond Audio Sub, and it'* magnifique!

Yeah, the only thing that I didn't like about ED was the fact that their subs were geared more towards SQ, and like you said, they have stuff available when they want to like their entry level components that just started shipping again last month. I waited six months for them and then finally gave up. I will agree with you on the subwoofer though. I have two Diamond Audio D3 15'* and they pound. They cost $250 in the store and I got them online for $138.00 and that is why I began this thread so you guys can save money like that too because it really does add up.
