Default need electronics help

not sure if this is the right area so mybad if its not.

ok the amp in my car took a poop. well i need a 47 ohm resitor. but do i need a 1/4 watt, 1/2 watt or 1 watt resistor..... how do i tell the diff between wattage????? i figured out the ohm by taking the amp meter to the other ones.. (theres on resitor for each channel on a 4 channel amp) but im lost on the wattage part.. also if just one resistor blows will it make the whole darn thing quit working???

the color codes are yellow, purple, black with gold at top +/- 5%

the resistor is about as long as a cancer stick is round. so about hmmm 1/4 inch
thanks

well yellow, purple, black indicates 47 ohms at +/- 5%

1/4 inch long makes me think 1/4 watt. but hopefully someone else will chime in with that info.

how big around (diameter) is it?

your length leads towards 1/4 watt and your width leads to 1/2 watt.

measuring it up against a monitor really is not a good way of doing it at all.

I would find a ruler and measure a bit more
