Default Digital Sound Processors

Do any of you have any experience with Digital Sound Processors? Usually they're an EQ/crossover combined. The reason I ask is I'm thinking about going back to the "dreadful" stock cd player. I really miss having steering wheel controls, Speed compensated volume, and all my DIC settings (I lost some by removing the stock radio.) I was thinking that the DSP might correct what I hated about my stock radio so bad.. the over exagerated bass at low volumes and muddy highs. Most of the higher-end DSP'* have a 9+ band equalizer so could I essentially "fix" what I don't like about the stock cd player? I have a pioneer MP3/cd-rw player right now but I haven't even played an MP3 cd yet, or a cd-rw. Should I just suck it up and stick with the pioneer, or would you go back to stock and try to fix its problems with an external DSP/crossover?

Pros Of stock cd player
Steering wheel controls
Speed compensated volume
Chime (can be a con too)
Better FM tuner
No face plate to remove everytime you leave the car.
Looks Stock (good for stealth reaons, and because I'm under warranty until next year.)

Cons of Stock Cd player
Over exxagerated frequencies at low volume, and non-existant at high volume
No MP3, Subwoofer control, CD-RW
More static/hiss because of high-level outputs
chime

Read up on this guy, thats the piece that should do everything you want. The catch is that JL strongly recommends using the included volume control instead of the OEM ****.

the clean sweep looks nice. The price, however, isn't so nice. ($700 or so.)

What would you do? Have the nicer looking factory radio with the factory options, or have the better sound quality of an aftermarket head?

what do you like, are you into the audio thing? do you like to have the highs clear and the lows low???

how important is it to you:
1-that you have to stealth look and the options
or
2-you have the SQ with the aftermarket HU?

i also feel ur pain since i have had my stock cd player while i save for new aftermarket cd player. i have fallen in love with my steering wheel controls i use them every single day and they are a great convience. but since they make a adaptor so i can use those. i do like not having to worry about people stealing my stock cd player. but i enjoying the added options of an aftermarket cd player, but i didnt lose options when i switched to aftermarket as u did. if i were u i would just stick with aftermarket and get adaptor for steering wheel control and whats option did u lose when added aftermarket cd player?

I bought the PAC-SWI-x to try and keep my steering wheel controls but I couldn't. I followed the instructions to a T in the manual and the module doesn't seem to work on my car. I Found the correct wire as described on this site (dark blue wire on right 40 pin harness to right of steering column) and the wire has no voltage...ever. I can have the car off, turn everything on, turn ignition on, radio on, push steering wheel control buttons, etc, there is never any voltage running through the wire. :? I'm stumped..

The wire I was mentioning in my previous post was the wire that is from the steering wheel controls themselves. They don't have power for some reason and I have no idea which wire powers them and why they no longer have power.
