Default installing a new radio in the 03

Is it as hard as it sounds?
The sticky makes it sound very hard, and bonkjmma'* post for his double din sounds easy.
If you have the right parts is there alot of "customizing"?
Thanks, Kevin

it is no harder than any other install, buy wiring kit, buy antenna adapter, buy fit-kit, install as normal

its just gonna be a different harness than you are used to

if you didnt use the harness you might end up rewiring the entire dash

sine i have all of my speakers running through an auxilary amp, i rewired everything. i ran power wires up to the radio, and the RCAs out. then ran new wires to the speakers. I would have had to do 90% of the work whether its a 2007 STS, a 2000 Bonneville, or a 1986 Civic.

not to mention that 3yrs ago when i wired it all up, there was NO aftermarket alternatives at all available

The reason the car gets a bad rap for installation, is because a true plug-n-play harness will run you from 80-100 bucks and may or may not retain ALL features such as onstar.

If you need a hand with the install, I'd be more than happy to help out.

Let me know...

Thanks guys, I got the radio up and running yesterday, today I just have to get it to fit in the dash (do some cutting).
Parts ended up being pretty cheap through Circuit City with my discount, but the harness was still $50.
My g/f bought me a single din with dvd player and 3.5 inch screen. Its pretty cool,
Made by Power Acoustik but the best part was it was free...
I'll post some pics when done.
Thanks agian.

some of the new wiring kits have a speaker built into them that plays the chimes
