Radio Codes
I disconnected the battery for approximately 30 minutes to properly clean the battery terminals and now the radio won't turn on after reconnecting the battery. I don't know the security codes and can't get ahold of the previous owner. It'* for a 97 SSEi that had the cd player built in but no equalizer. Can anyone tell me what my options are for getting the radio to turn back on.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I was just reading somewhere that you have to take it in to either a Firestone store (huh?) or the dealer. They can cross it to their database. :?

Thanks for the reponse 93RedSled-SSE, here in Canada, Firestone franchise or company owned stores either don't have the ability to access that information or don't know it'* available. Dealerships here charge $95.00 per hour at a minimum one hour rate therefore Canadian dealerships aren't an option at $95.00 for a radio code.

I don't know the cost and haven't used it myself, but you might want to look around this site and see what they can do. Just a thought...

This might help. Just found something that for these radios you can unlock it without a code if it is still in the original vehicle:
http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/april99/techtips.htm
Of course, please let us know if this fixes your problem
If your steering wheel pads are bad, there is a place that will send you the codes and costs $24.99. I know nothing about this one, so cannot endorse it. They use PayPal, send you the code in email and state it takes 30 min. to 24 hours to provide your code.

The sequence you've listed from what I understand is for the 1986-89 model year, this is what is said for years 96 and up which pertain to my bonne. Another problem I forgot to mention is that my display is blank...........Ya I know.............that'* a problem. The radio I have is the bottom left.
"Delco Lock II (also called Theftlock), the next generation of anti-theft controls, features an owner-programmed lock code which is entered through the radio controls. If the customer programs a lock code into the radio and memory power is lost, "LOC" will appear after power is restored. The locking code must be entered to allow its use. If the customer does not have the code number, the radio may be unlocked by an authorized General Motors facility using special access codes."

Lordy, when it rains it pours.
RE: the display; have you seen this post? in the latter half. A known problem is with the bulb that backlights the display. The socket contact goes bad and needs attention. If you are lucky, it might be the just the bulb. Checked your fuses, right?

On your other problem, do you actually see the LOK indicator with the display not working?
You will have to get that going before you can input anything. Hey, I found another online place that will get your code back to you for $15, paid via PayPal. Same disclaimer. But you have to do a procedure that displays #* on the display and provide to them.

Hi. This is my first post to this forum. I just bought a used 2001 Bonneville and half of the display on the radio is out. I read a lot on this forum and I believe the bulbs behind the display may be out. I want to try replacing the lights/LEDs but if I disconnect the radio, and then reconnect it later, will that lock the radio? I do not have any locking codes, so I'm afraid to disconnect the radio.
Also is there a way to find the locking code on my radio just in case I need it later?
Thanks.
