replace 6x9s with components?
Would it be a good idea to use components for the rear instead of the 6x9s? i know that i would have to make an adaptor plate. I plan to drive my main speakers with a 4ch amp so power is not an issue and I would have to seal them off from the trunk due to the subs i plan to add. But my question is, would there be a major SQ different between components and a good set of 6x9s? less bass but better sound?

Actually I have components in the front already and the ones I am considering are the same model but with 6 1/4 inch mids. Would it be a good idea to use the high-pass filters on my amp? Or run them full range?

Instead of a full blown component speaker package, i'd probably prefer to run just a woofer/mid speaker in the back, for some rear fill. That'll play your guitar and such, but leave the vocals upfront nicely. You can buy just woofers from component sets pretty cheap as well
Although 6x9'* will fill the gap nicely between components up front and subs in the rear... You'll have a good 20-30hz gap...

I say go for it man, but make your front'* dominate. You need the sound stage forward.
I've got my old componets in the rear deck, mostly faded in just for passangers but lately I have it setup 10 out of 15 towards the front'* so little comes from the back, but don't want to hear any voices though.
What gap are you talking about, most setups dont go to 20hz? That'* pretty low, Mines not that low.

Good point. Most 15s barely do that. a lot of the speakers that go that low are so large that they can hardly play freaquencies that you can hear.

I think that he means there is a 20-30 hz gap in the frequency spectrum. Such as a gap between 30 and 50 hz. Wait.....wouldnt a gap reduce the smoothness of the midbass? It would kinda defeat the purpose of components...
