You wont really find any 6x9 components. Most SQ guys will run components up front, and something for some rear fill in the back.
My plan for the future is to fiberglass the front door panels somewhat, and run 6 1/2" components up front, and a voice matched 6 1/2" woofer in a sealed area on the factory 6x9 opening. My only tweeters will be up front for a great soundstage, and the woofers will help bring the subs "up front."
Some audiophiles run nothing in the rear. My Hi Fi setup at home has 2 speakers and a sub, and will surround you 75% of what a full 5.1 system will.
What do u want from your car? If you want good all around sound, and don't want to go nuts, i'd suggest factory fitting components (5.25" up front, with tweeter) powered from a 2 channel amp, and then some 6x9'* in the back running as rear fill off of the HU.

The only changes i made to mine was putting co-axials in the front locations, and i set the EQ on my HU to only play 250 Hz and lower notes from the back. There are also bass-blockers on my fronts so i can have the fader set at 0 and the fronts don't distort with the bass set up to +6 (maximum). I'd like to buy some of the enclosures that go in the doors because i prefer the sound to come from below not from in front. Maybe the next junkyard run.
