6x9 swap questions
So a whille ago, I wanted to get more bass out of my stock system by adding some after market sony x-plodes, but it just sounded crappy. What kind of speakers should I get to get more bass out of my stock system. Oh, BTW, Its a 1993 ssei, so it has the bass control thing. Anything else I could swap to get a better sound for the car?

I have a set of Polk Audio DB'* that I paid about 150-160 for in the back and I love em. They get plenty loud and can handle 100 Watts RMS.
Oh and the only speakers that have "Dual Voice Coils" are subs.

I'll throw in the low budget alternative - Lightning Audio. 40 bucks at your local WallyWorld. A few of us have them, and for el Cheapos, they sound pretty dang good! They're made by Rockford Fosgate, but I guess it'* their economy line.

If you're interested, you might wanna hurry. Lightning Audio no longer lists the speakers I got on their site

I agree that an aftermarket head unit is the first step towards better sound. For shopping around I would use www.crutchfield.com for their reviews, lots of good information from other folks. I probably wouldn't buy from them though as they generally aren't the cheapest.
Aside from that, I also have a full set of Polk Audio DB'* and they are some great sounding speakers. After some adjustment you can almost get away with not having a sub with them.

your car is most likey like mine and you cant put in 2 or 3 way speakers (something to do with bridging and not getting correct sound( because there are two pair of wires going to the factory speaker (high/low) and the after market only have One pair of wires to connect to
I think this only applys to the older models because aCID was going to install mine for me like he did in his SSEi but mine was different and he said it couldnt properly be done
