JL 10W3
I made my choice and handed over my credit card.
It really wasn't for me....I will be wearing my earplugs...it is for my 14 year old son. His birthday is next week.
I took sound guru Taylor'* advice..... I was truly impressed with the sound of his W7 system....and bought a single 10" JL W3 in a ported box. He did recommend a sealed box but we listened to both and I left the decision up to my son.
It will come with the JL E1400 amp and will have the gain control as recommended by our sound system guru.
Truth be known, it'* going into my Jeep.....purely experimental of course.
If I can get used to the thumping, I may go with W7'* next year for the Bonne.

I think for the money there is about 10 other speakers I would have rather went with, but as long as your happy..
Im saving for a 15 Adire Brahma now that my friend will kick any JL'* *** all day every day..
Is JL becoming overhyped? yes in my eyes they are.. the W7'* are not worth the money to me.. They are not that great of a sub if you sit down and talk with true car audio enthusiasts they mostly will go with other subs..
JL used to rock out some decent subs but in the last few years they are resting on there name..
Perfect example the W0'* they are some of the worst sounding subs but people buy them on the name kinda like Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi'*, etc etc..
I hope you are happy and any bass is better than no bass.. I know I will get flamed for my opinions but I just dont see the justification in price or quality when I will list 4 subs better right now..
Adire
Resonant Engineering
CDT (SQ sub)
Elemental Designs
TC subs (ie, makers of Eclipse Titaniumsand several others)
WOW I need to seek therapy for writing this..

Compare w0'* to other subs in the price range and they blow them away. Yes i may have some, i know they're not the best, they're car audio after all.
Those smaller companies do have wonderful products, but the w7 is up there. It'll do loud, it'll to SQ, and it'l do both.
Remember boys and girls Bigger != Better...

Alpine Type R 10" actually cheaper than a equal JL W0
it will beat it in the following
Sound Quality
Excursion
Design Quality
Build Quality
shall I keep going..
The W0'* are and will always be junk.. Its there entry line for younger people an people who just need to have the JL name... I mean there is nothing that sub has to offer for that price tag.. Period..

It is not a W0. That'* a base level JL.
It is a W3.
True, not as good as a W7 but not bad...for a $199. boxing day special.
The amp was another $400.
My son will be turning 14, so there is plenty of time to upgrade.
....ya I probably won't put the extra weight in my Bonne.
My 18" Definitive home sound system sub is enough for me.

why are you flaming silverbullet so bad??? he just got the sub for his 15 year old son. its the boys first system.
I am just exoressing my opinion on JL..
And to game over if you look at the record books most dont use JL...
Some of the top subs in comps..
DD
Earthquakes
Cerwin Vega Strokers
RE XXX
MTX RFL'*
Rockford Fostgate Team Subs
Etc etc..
I have been in car audio since I was 15 that was 1989.. I have seen just about everything.. JL used to be king at comps.. In the early 90'* you needed 4 things to win a comp.. JL Subs, Eclipse Head Unit, PPI Amps, And MB Quarts.. Shoot at one point something like 75% of people winning coms had that setup..
Thats when JL made a name for themselves.. Thats when they were producing top notch stuff.. Now as the years go on just like every other company out there. They begin to rest on there name.. Is the W7 revolutionary? NO its just another high excursion sub.. Hell Pioneers SPL subs have been out for a decade so high excursion is nothing new.. But its JL so its got to be good..
See we as humans are easily fooled into believing hype.. JL is a good company but there products have not been anything special in the last few years.. That is my point of this thread not to flame silver bullet..
Now as far as the Definitive Techs... You and Me agree BP2000'* here.. Love them speakers..

yea a properly tuned box makes all the difference, Personally I heart the fosgate Power series subs, 1000 RMS and a 304oz magnet for each one, 3 of thoes in my car with a rockford T3000, amp pushing 3000 RMS @ 1 ohm
come get some
