Default Installed some new 6x9(old) and some Alpine SPR 17S 6.5"

I was bored earlier today so i thought i would tackle the job of installing some infiniti 9603i 3 way speakers. I bought them probably 3 years ago and they have been sitting in my closet since. Anyways though, taking the back seat out had me frustrated a couple of times trying to find out how to get to the clips and releasing them fron the backseat. Then figuring out that there were only 3 bolts that release the back trunk cover. After that, it was about 10 minutes to install and finish up. If there is ever a next time, I'll probably just remove the grills and replace the speakers that way. Now that i replaced the bolts with screws, it'll be much easier and quicker to remove and replace the speakers.
But i have to say the difference is great, so much more bass and i can actually hear the words in the song..

I had those exact speakers in my old 1998 SSE (BOSE) and let them go with my 1995 SLE (non-bose).
I absolutely loved them, and the sounds from them with the BOSE amp was like having some 8" subs in back.
I honestly wouldn't mind getting some stereo upgrades done, but atm moment I see no reason to do more than what I did yesterday (remove the sun screen paper from the rear speaker covers to eliminate rattle/blown speaker sounds from the rear).

Bottom line, you will be happy with those speakers. Harmon International put'* out incredible products, and even though they are just the Reference series they outperform any stock speakers in Bonneville'* by a country mile.

Yeah I love the new 6x9'*, they bump like no other 6x9 I have heard in a long time. They really impressed me. I thought since they were years old, they were going to be outdated and just suck but still be better then stock. My System? well it doesnt really consist of anything but plan on getting some subs soon.

I also just installed these.... 6.5" alpine SPR-17s and replace the stock doors. But since i dont have an amp, i didnt run the crossover. I like them so far but i think Im going to need to give it more amps because it doesnt pound as hard as i want it to. The tweaters sound really nice though, i love how you can adjust the tweater head to point which ever way you want. Anybody know if i have to use the crossover? what are my benefits with and without, Im not really a audio/electronic guru when it comes to this kind of stuff. Almost seems as though my stock 6.5" hit harder then these but dont know if thats really the case since i got the new 6x9'* in.

Yes, you will want an amp for the Alpine'*. I had Alpine Type * (mid-line) 5.25" 2-ways in my setup, and they didn't have the thump that the stockers gave, but the sound quality was way up. I never did put an amp in, but it won't take much to power those... should be able to find a good quality 75x2 to run the Alpines or 100x4 to run all 4 speakers to provide a better sound distribution.
Do you have an upgraded head unit yet? You could benefit from a nice deck, but it depends on how for you want to take your system. I just wanted to get somewhat better than stock and the Infinity 6x9'* and Alpine Type *'* teamed with the 4 stock BOSE tweeters made for a much improved sound, no matter the type of music I was listening too.
As for the tweeters, I suggest you run them off the crossover.... the stock tweeter had their bass blockers right on the tweeter, where-as the Alpines are in the crossover.

Actually the amp connections are the power connections.
I might need somebody to get a diagram in to give you a better idea of what I mean, but the power wires to your 6.5" speaker are supposed to get hooked up to the amp connections on the crossover, then you wire back to the 6.5" from the woofer terminals, and to the tweeter from the tweeter terminal.
If you have an amp, you would run wires from the appropriate amp channel to the crossover and then to the woofer/tweeter just like above.
Hope my words aren't too big of mess.

I'd suggest getting some some speaker wire adapters from your local car audio place and cutting the speaker terminals, exposing the wires and connecting them to the crossover. I assume you already have adapters installed with the new speakers or you cut the plug off the wiring harness (not the ideal way to go about this)
