Help me Solve this Argument! 15" Fi Q vs 15" Lanzar Optidrive
My buddy has a 15" Lanzar Optidrive. Cant remember excactly which model. But its 3000w rms, 6000w max, Black cone with bubble dust cap.
And he is always saying its better than my Fi Q, and i say NO WAY! My subs power handling is way underrated while im sure his sub is overrated. He says his sub is actually made by Fi and i say Bull Chit cause u have to custom order Fi subs and cant buy them from a retailer, like u can a Lanzar.
He is just getting on my nerves with this. Not to mention he has a Crunch amp, Jensen flip out touch screen, ect. Ive heard his set up and its loud but the sound quality sucks

Lanzar Opti subs are good. I think the one you are talking about is the 1533d. It may be a tad overrated, because 3k RMS seems like a lot for a 3" voice coil. But, I would venture to say the Lanzar is probably stronger and louder than your Q, but your Q will sound better. From what I'm finding, the Lanzar Opti subs share a lot of parts with Konaki/Cadence/American Bass so I'd assume they're all made by the same OEM company.
Hell, look at the Lanzar Opti1535d. I've heard it'* an amazing sub for the price. Looks like it'* OEMed by the same company who makes TC Sounds subwoofers because it used the Ti basket. The basket on that sub alone is probably worth close to $100. They can be found for under $200 here and there. 1600 RMS, dual 10" spaced spiders, and a sweet basket.
By the way, Fi is just one part of a company. Scott, the owner/designer for Fi OEMs for other companies and also makes Ascendant Audio subs. He also used to design RE Audio stuff back when it was good. Also, DC Audio started with Scotts designs which were slighty changed by Dave from PSI/FixMySpeaker. So, it'* not like Fi is some unicorn sub brand.

Better is subjective for the most part. Will yours sound better? Probably. It'* designed to be loud yet retain good SQ. The one he has is probably more similar to a BTL. I'm sure Fi has better build quality, beings they're made in USA in house while Lanzar is probably chinese made by a company that makes subs for several companies.
There are a lot of people out there who don't necessarily think Fi is all that among a lot of the other sub makers (DC, DD, Sundown, etc). I don't have enough experience to judge for myself so I'll leave it at that. I will say that my Sundown sub I have now is far more impressive than the Fi sub I had, but the install is different so it'* apples to oranges, really.
