Default Swapping Stock HU'*

I've decided, at least for now, to put my new aftermarket HU in my SLE since the stock Bose system in the SSEi isn't a direct plug and play with aftermarket HU'*. From my understanding it has something to do with the amp.

My display happens to be burnt out in my SSEi'* radio though and I'd like to swap my SLE'* HU with the 7 band EQ to the SSEi. I tested it already and it seemed to work fine before this fiasco, haha: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=82166

Is there any benefit to the SSEi'* HU over the SLE'* which has more equalizer configurations and a working lighted display? Were HU'* in the Bose equipped cars more powerful or something? Am I taking any risks by installing the SLE'* HU in the SSEi? Security didn't seem to be an issue because it seemed to work fine without being "locked."

Thanks.

I don't have the same model year as you, but I can offer some input.

The biggest difference is the Bose system has a factory amp, the speakers may be different but I don't think so.

As far as swapping the head units, if the one you are swapping to didn't pose any locking issues you should be fine.

Hope this helps,

Tim

Yeah I guess the root of my question is asking if the "Bose" head unit is any more "powerful" than the one in the SLE...

IIRC,they're both the same HU. The biggest difference is the EQ.

It surprises me then that the Boses seem to come with only the two sliders and my SLE has the 7 band EQ :? Oh well, time to switch!

You mean trying to get my aftermarket HU to work in my SSEi? Then yes, that'd be cool. On the other hand, having it in my SLE gives me some extra motivation to drive that one too

Sorry Boosty, I'm MAJORLY audio inept...wanna run that by me again?

By the way, In case you didn't see the for sale post, I picked up a Sony GT710 from petraman on the cheap and decided it'd be nice to have the ipod integration to compliment a better HU.

Ok..

Here'* the I dunno much audio response to your I'm not sure about audio......

If you want to keep the stock speakers and stock bose amp..then you'll need to add a wire to the connector for power to the factory amp. Without power..you get no sound.
