Head Unit Displays 'Broken Tape' When Using Cassette Adapter
:?: I am attempting to use a Sony Cassette Adapter to play music from my LG Fusic cell phone in my 2005 Bonneville GXP. But, as soon as I pop the cassette in the player - the cassette mechanism starts to 'play' for about 2 seconds - then it reverses itself and 'plays' for 2 seconds again - and then it pops the cassette adapter out and the display on the head unit reads 'Broken Tape'. The head unit must actually have something that is looking for tape to be moving through it. Any input on how to get around this would be appreciated. The cassette player plays cassettes just fine and this setup works fine in other vehicles I have.
So let me know what you can... Thanks!

Not sure if this is going to work for you. IIRC, the mechanism looks for both spindles to turn when playing. If only one turns during playback, it will conclude that the tape is broken. You may need to try a different type of adapter. Some are designed to "fake" the deck into thinking the tape is intact by using gears inside to cause both to turn.
Can't suggest anything else except a different adapter

The part on an audio tape that is clear and holds no audio info - rip it out of some tape you don't like. Wind that around the metal head that plays the digital audio, and make it a belt loop with the two spinning things. When one spins, the other spins as well. Also, there'* "tape movement."
