I've attempted it. You have to pull the face plate, circuit board and the display unit. The bulbs are behind the rectangle display which you remove by straightening out the pegs on the back of the circuit board. I don't know what the correct bulb is for these. I know they are kind of a specialty one and that the general radioshack version doesn't work. They just toast as soon as you put power to them. I imagine that I just got the wrong bulb. I couldn't get it to work again so I gave up and just bought a junkyard radio that had all the lights working. That took about three to four tries though to find one that didn't have the light burnt out problem. It is very common though. Maybe one of these GM guys could tell us the proper bulb to buy and then it wouldn't be that dificult to replace.

They've got a 3-pak of the lights you need. $20 for 3 bulbs seems kind of pricy, maybe you can find the same ones some place else cheaper. The guys at corvetteradios.com are very helpful with answering your questions.

The Radio Light Fix

Yeah, I read his after I sent that to you, but not everything ended up working for him in the end. Do you know if he has been able to get it resolved since then? Thanks. I have the same problem and haven't found anyone that has successfully restored all of their burnt out lights. Haro'* pics are great, but it sounds like something else got f'ed up while he had it apart. Has anyone else had luck with this task?

The bulbs are very sensitive (unfortunately) to vibration, so when you take the radio apart you have to becareful not to burn out any more of the filaments. Thats the problem he was having....so when you take your radio apart, be careful!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the sensitivity of the lights. About 6 months ago, I took the HU out to look at the harness type. (I would like to determine if a newer HU with XM could go in my car). When I put the HU back in, the left and center lights went out.
