Got my HU installed, but...
Two things:
1) Using the Metra dash kit, I had to use the DDIN adapter in order to fit everything into the space that the stock HU occupied. It worked (the dash itself holds everything in), but now I have that huge gaping hole showing all my wires. Any recommendations as to where I can buy a trim piece of some sort to cover the hole?
2) In order to keep my chimes, etc., I installed the GMOS-05. Now, I saw a thread stating that aftermarket HUs usually don't put out the power that stock units do, which may explain my loss of any kind of good bass. My question is this... should I look into new speakers, an amp, or both? Any recommendations for this as well?
Thanks in advance.

yah i notice the same thing, my sony xplods sounded way better with the stock HU, imo sony xplod are great, anything name brand should work for you, depending on what your new HU is putting out you should be fine without an amp, are you planning on doing subs?
as for the adapter i found one that fit fine excpet having to make my own mounting screws because of the dock and lock part

I'm considering subs...only drawback is I need every inch of trunk space I can get.
I think the RMS power of the Kenwood is about 22W (peak power 50W). I still have the factory speakers, btw.

Solution!
OK, I just figured it out and fixed it earlier.
I'll lay it out here so that anyone who searches later can find this and not make the same mistake I did...
In the GMOS-05 installation manual that comes packaged with the harness, there'* a section for installation of an aftermarket radio without an external amplifier.
One of the steps that they give you is to "connect the blue/white wire from the radio to the 14-pin connector and also to the 32-pin harness." DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Most likely (and someone can correct me) this bypasses something in the new HU and causes you to lose all your low range, subjecting you to frustration and shopping around for new components when you probably don't need them in the first place.
Anyway, I disconnected that blue-white wire from the GMOS-05 and taped it up and all my kick came back.
So, in short, if you have a blue/white wire with your new HU but no aftermarket amp, don't pair it with the same wire in the GMOS-05. You won't need it.

glad you could figure it out, i don't have any experience with that interface, a lot of the guys here run the Scosche GM14B, i think it'* called GM14SR now or something like that, only difference is no adjustable volume beacuse the chimes are now played through a buzzer in the interface, only bad thing is the buzzer isn't as nice as the original chime

Yeah, my chimes aren't as nice either, even though they go through the speakers still. I also lost my seat belt chime at ignition, though the low fuel warning still works.
Overall, I'm happy. My next mission will be to get the SWI-JACK in. I miss my controls...

thats weird that you would lose just one, all mine work im pretty sure, i don't remember there being a seat belt chime even with the stock set up, just flashing
I wish i could have done the SWI-JACK, i had to use the SWI-X, but this way i can program any button to do anything on the remote, as well as something i might add later that has a remote, just got an idea to maybe use some for the underbody neon
