Oh, and another thing, if you want more red, then you can upload your own pictures to the head unit, just make sure they're red.

Nope, no hand holding needed, I have installed many systems over the years but I am out of the loop so to speak these days, I was real heavy into that stuff in high school and now, eh, not so much, but I must have MP3 and the car right now doesn't even have a cd player, so its time to upgrade....

The only thing I worry about is I had a kenwood mask with the 2 piece fold out face, I forget the model, but I had a TON of problems with that. It wasn't the motorized face either, it was constantly having display problems and I took it in 3 times for not playing regualr CD'* very well and not playing MP3 CD'* at all. They never could fix it so it sits in my garage, in the box, on the shelf. That makes me a little hesitant about buying another kenwood.....

<------ Eclipse HU user here

Eclipse or Alpine... Those are the only brand of HU'* I would buy with a select few inbetween. Both make great HU'* with good clean power, lots of features for sound control, and are not too flashy.

I prefer pioneer, yes the display is dimable. I normally just flip the display down at night (it turns off the light then) because once I have a CD playing I rarely change anything anyways.

Any high quality unit will dim when your lights go on.

I originally bought my first head unit on three premises.
1) Lights matched
2) played MP3
3) i'd installed one for a friend, and liked it.
Saw the unit on sale and got it after i got my bonnie.

The lights may have been red, but the face was silver, so it stuck out even more. Sound quality was below par.2 weeks ago I pulled out that RF MP3 deck and got an Alpine 9856. It rocks my world, and my iPod.

No pioneer, or RF, i've had in my own cars has touched it SQ wise, or feature wise. It doesn't have the flashiest display, but it shows all you'll need to know.

That sounds like something for me to look into, I am not interested in all that fancy display stuff, it causes distraction at night IMO and I find that they are far brighter in the dark then I like. I will look into the Alpine.

The Alpine does have 6 blue buttons in the middle which are somewhat bright at night.
