where to run power wire on 97 OLDS LSS
Installed two amps, jbl 6 x9'* and a sub in the back. Have it ll wired up except for the 8 gauge power wire. Popped the hood and found no obvious place to run the wire. Has anybody found a unused grommet to run the wire through it. The firewall seems pretty plugged up with hvac controls

Well, I didnt find any grommet holes in the firewall. I did however 'ghetto' it by runing the power wire through the door grommet that contains the door speaker and window electronics, it then finds it'* way through the fender/hood.....greasy, but it works OK.
The amps are nothing special. 1st amp a coustic 380 for the 6 x 9 jbl'*. The sub amp ia a marathon 'something or another'.
It started off kind of silly. I noticed a pair of 6 x 9s for 1/2 otf best buy....coudnt resist. Installed the jbl'*, sound quality was better but nothing overwhelming. I did however notice how much the deck lights would dim when cranked up. Mentioned it to a budy and he mumbled something about goofy 10 ohm pactory speakers. The factory 10 0hm spaekers deserve a little respect....not bad at all.
I decided to install a couple of amps, as not to melt down the deck. The amps are from a previous life ( before kids ) I cleaned out the garage while ago and found a wealth of old amps and speakers. I figured why not use up the old stock. The coustic should be ok for the jbl'*. The marathon'* history is a little more vague. If I recall correctley just after I bought it, they were bought out by PPI or was the predecsessor to PPI. It is nothing major, which is ok. I'm only runing a old clarion pro audio 8' in a small box for fill. The subs were part of a 4 8' sub system for an old mini truck project.
I had a pair of old polk 6.5 component for the front doors (maybe my favorite speaker of all time...had two in eack door of the mini truck...loved them). I had to enlarge the stock mounting panels to get them to fit in the lss, but well worth it. I left the stock tweeter for now.
All that is left is to make final remote on connection.....probably cigarette lighter for source and to wire in the rca line converter and adjust the gains.
