Default Sub and amp questions.

I have off all next week (Spring Break, woohoo) and would like to put a sub and an amp into my Suburban. I have narrowed down on what sub/amp combo I would like to get. I want to get an Alpine Type-E 12" and a Pioneer 760 watt amp. I am going to get the amp from Best Buy because I found $30 worth of gift cards (woohoo). And will try to find a good deal online for the sub.

The sub is the Alpine Type-E 12". It can handle up to 750watts and 250watts RMS. I took a listen to one at Best Buy. It hits hard, and is nice and clean. Plus it looks pretty friggin' sweet which is most definately a bonus. For the amp, I want the Pioneer 760 watt amp. It puts out something like 120 x 2 RMS. Bridged I think it is close to 300 RMS. Would I be pushing too hard if I were to wire in the sub bridged? If I didn't wire the sub in like that, and just took up one of the speaker channels, would I have to do anything with the other channel? Or should I just get a lower wattage 20-channel amp, and bridge it?

I have pretty much made my mind up about this combinations. I took a listen to it at Best Buy and thought it was just right for what I needed. I'm just looking to add some bass into the mix without spending too much. I would appreciate any of them help. Thanks.

Well he is right there have been a lot of problems with the Alpine Amps. every electronics store I have gone to has said that hose amps aree the worst one'* to buy. Now if you want a high quality amp but do not want to spend a lot of money look into Memphis amps. They have won a ton of awards from around the globe. Here is their website www.memphiscaraudio.com

Frankly, the stuff you find @ BB isn't always top stuff, but they have better car audio then they did a few years ago. Alpine is nice, if it works, RF is pretty much down the middle, it'* nothing special, but it'* not junk.

Memphis is a good suggestion, PPI, Phoenix Gold, JL, are all nice higher end stuff. Of course there are more, these are just a few diverse examples...

Your amp will be fine. Now find some a nice woofer or two for it.
