Default newbie needing some serious help!

Hi everyone. Today I am getting a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE. It has 54k miles. The interior is in amazing condition, especially for being 13 years old. Anyways, It doesn't have a cd player so I want to get one installed asap. I wouldn't mind the stock cassette player for my iPod, but there'* no center console so I want to get this for my car. Since it has the little card reader I can play songs with that. I read somewhere that I would need to get something like this in order to get an aftermarket radio installed. Did anyone else have to get that installed to get an aftermarket radio installed? Of not please tell me what you did.. Also, does anyone reccomend BestBuy to install the radio? Thank Yous to anyone who reads this!

Bestbuy'* install is just fine but its expensive (50 bucks or so)

Best Buy can be expensive...but usually if u buy a headunit $99+ they install it for free...u just have to pay for the harness which u will need...but its also easy to instal urself too so its up to u.

Hiya

A couple things to consider.

Price.. what are you willing to pay. Shop around. Ebay is a good lower cost place..as are other suggestions mentioned.

Mounting plate.. there are a couple to choose from.. research them to find out which you really want. For example..some have the radio sticking out by about an inch or so... others are flush..

Here'* what I did in case it lends you any tips

Don't buy the insignia head unit, if you can spend a little more, you could get something with full iPod capabilities from one of the big manufacturers.

When I put my head unit in, I was told I didn't need an antenna adapter. My uncle said it was in the wiring harness. We just plugged them in. Am I wrong?

i guess it must depend on the Radio, because Newer radios have a much larger plug than the Factory antenna that is in the car
