Default alpine deck

a friend might be able to get me an alpine deck... what do i need to install it? kit and harness? how hard is it to put it in?

You'll need a kit that goes from the standard GM fit opening (1.5) din, to Din opening. An appropriate GM/Bonneville harness, and antenna adapter.

You won't need the wiring harness if it was already in a similar car, but most likely you'll be cutting off an old one, and re-wiring.

You'll need a wiring harness and mounting hardware. Any audio store that stocks Alpine should carry this stuff (Audio King/Ultimate Electronics), just tell them what you got and what you need. Really easy to install, except some minor modification to the mounting hardware might be needed. :?
