How to re-program RKE key flops
Can anyone tell me how to program remote keyless entry key flops for my '96 Bonneville SSEi? I bought 2 new key flops but I have no idea how to program the RKE to use them.

Hey, I know on our '96 Trans Sport minivan, we can program the door lock actions with a combination of holding down the Lock button on the door for some period of time (e.g. 5-10 seconds), followed by a press of certain buttons on the remote (depending on what kind of automatic Lock/Unlock behavior you want to have happen when the van is shifted to and from Park). Might this be similar to what you'd do to program the car for a new remote, on the '96 models? Just guessing, tho... Might be handy to add to the TechInfo entries once someone comes up with the right answer...

Acg, can you write that up as a procedure and pm or email it to me or Jr? I have the 95 procedure. We'll try to get Heysport1 to try the 95 procedure and confirm that it works with 96. We may have 92-99 covered with these 2 procedures (Drifter already sent me the 95)

How about for 1994? I got a remote with my 1994 SLE, but went to put a new back on as the key ring loop broke and found that one of the v'* that the batteries sit on was broke. I didn't solder it, but when I put it back together with the v in it'* proper position it wouldn't work with the car. Bought two more remotes on ebay and need to program them. Not sure how to do it as it is a different plug than my brothers 1992 SSE which we just programmed the remotes on.
Will try the lock button holding procedure as soon as I get it back from the shop where it is getting the broken right rear control arm replaced (broke with 800lbs of passengers in the car).

1 - Jumper upper-right and lower-left ports together
2 - Car should acknowledge with a *clunk* *clunk* of its locks
3 - Press any _one_ button of the new remote, just once
4 - Car should acknowledge you again
5 - Release jumper wire and you're done
I've also seen instructions about grounding a green wire in the trunk, instead of the lower-left wire on the ALDL connector, but have never actually had to go looking in a trunk to program the locks so I don't know exactly which cars that would apply to.

Jumping the pins 4 & 8 causes the locks to cycle on my '96.
My original key flob GM# 25628xxx & FCC# K0BUT1BT.
I purchased 2 used flob'* with GM# 10246xxx& FCC# ABO0204T and these wouldn't program.
Then I just purchased 1 new flob with GM# 25668xxx & FCC# K0BUT1BT and it doesn't work either.
Does the GM# need to be exactly the same?
