Aftermarket radio hookup
First of all hello to everyone in the forum. I just recently purchased a 2000 bonneville and ran into a dilemna. I took out the radio to find out that it is hooked up with a ribbon. I'm really into car audio and i have never seen this before. I have looked around in the internet but still have not found the wiring harness that i need. If you know where to get it or can lead me in the right direction I would be very greatful. Thanks in advance to whome ever takes the time to help me out.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm just not sure if that is the wiring harness. It says its for gm 2000 models but it doesn't look like it will connect to the ribbon. What i think ill do is post a picture of the ribbon. That might help me out a little more.

Thanks dalinkwent for the link. I am installing a Sony CDX-M9900 into my 2001 Bonneville and I need that exact adapter. Do you have a link for the antenna adapter and does anyone know what that gray stuff is on the end of the antenna adapter? Its a hard compound but have no idea where to buy it at.

Although I did'nt originally install my aftermarket radio, I have pulled it out enough, and been behind the dash enough to know tha tI had the exact same radio that was in the picture. There is'nt a lock for the aftermarket harness to lock to the factory harness so a cable tie was used to keep them tight. Radio works great, lost the door chime though (as well as the low gas alarm, and "hey dummy you left your blinker on" alarm.
One other note, if you have'nt done this yet. The subdash has to be DESTROYED if you want a flush install of your aftermarket radio. I beleive you can get the bracket that allows your radio to pertrude from the main dash by an inch, or two, but you can flush mount it if you cut away at the subdash.

That wierd stuff on the antenna cable looks like splicing tape (maybe heat shrink wrap?). It'* a pain in the *** to remove because it'* not meant to be removed. When splicing tape sits on itself for a few months, it starts to blend all together, and becomes a solid fricken mess. But it serves it'* purpose. Shrink wrap just gets hard.
I've cut the antenna cable before and put a custom end on it, to alleviate the problem of having a bad end and also adding adapters. It'* cost efficient for me cause I have the tools, however.

You absolutely right mremer. There was no way that aftermarket radio was going to be installed without destroying something. A friend of mine brought over his Dremel and we slowly and carefully trimmed away a lot of trim panel that was blocking the placement of the new receiver. We finally got it in though but it was a major pain in the A$$!!
