before you ask, i searched. i found the "writeup" by toasty a couple of times.
in my attempt to put in new rear speakers, i have met my match.

seat removed. easy.
four bolts removed from the bottom of the seat back. easy.
but seat back? not a chance. from the "write up", ive been able to ascertain that the body clips are whats holding me. what i dont know is how to remove those body clips. the instructions "use a flat screwdriver to depress the clip" leaves a little to be desired.

so i give up. im done with it. ive been trying to get the seat back out for way too long.

what was i thinking, that i could do something just because i had a "write up"?

no can do. im done with it. and to make matters better, nancy refused to help. she has no problem asking me to help her with anything she feels like, like, making a shelf, but when i ask her to help me with my speakers? shes too busy playing a game.

yeah I completely agree, that was also my biggest problem but comes to it that you really dont even need to removed all that, just pop out the speak grills and your in. but yeah just find the 3 pins and while pulling back on the seat, push down the pin and it will come out.

i tried that first. no luck. i cant get to the screws holding the speakers in. and even if i could, the speakers wont lift up.

i tried again. as near as i can tell, ive managed to mangle or destroy all four clips while getting only three out. i tried "pushing" them in in every way i could imagine to no avail.

so not only have i managed to destroy my four clips, ive still made NO progress.

progress made. three clips destroyed. im hoping that with the one i have which is not destroyed i can bend the other ones back into shape.

i give up for the night. car pulled out of the garage and garage door closed.

just how the hell and i supposed to remove the deck now? it looks like its being held in by the plastic on either side of the rear window [and the "write up" leads me to believe thats the case]. i tried experimentally to pull it out [as, im led to believe that its held in by the body clips i loved so much], and it quickly got to the point that im more concerned about bending or breaking the plastic. so what now? im beat, im mad, and im sweaty. and a little disheartened at my foray into something as simple as a speaker swap.

From the top, you can use a flat head screwdriver or a panel tool(proper tool to use). Pull at the top of the seat enough to see the clips. On one side of the clip(I believe the side facing the passenger side, it'* been a while since I've had it out), press down on that side of the clip. Should allow it to come right out.

If you were local, i'd just come over and do it real quick. Ya just gotta know how the clips work(well, being an installer helps also, but thats beside the point).

update as of tonight (yes, ive managed to turn something as simple as replacing speakers into a week-long project): seat is out, rear deck is out. speakers are unscrewed so all i have to do is find a way to get them out. ive a feeling that theyre just siliconed in, so if i pull/push hard enough, they will come out. no wires connecting them and all four screws out of each. any tips other than just make sure its hot? if the amount of sweat pouring off me is any indication of how hot it is, its a sauna in my car.

im done for the night. i will resume on tuesday, and hopefully finish.

Take a flathead screwdriver and put it between the speaker and where it mounts up, then pry up.
