Default engine noise thru speakers

ever since i installed my HU jvc KW-NT1 using metra GMOS-09 everytime car is on and my stereo is off or volume is low i can hear noise coming thru the speakers (more like a whisling noise), and everytime i touch the gas pedal the noise gets louder.. nothin crazy loud but its annoying, i doubt i can pick it on camera
if i remove the HU face plate the noise stops, so im sure it has something to do with the install
any idea why?

I would lean towards a bad ground or bad noise isolator somewhere

i have the HU grounded to the same wire that the stock HU was grounded too, should i try a different one (like straight to the body)?

i dunno what a "noise isolator" is but i know if i go back to stock HU its all gone

thanks

Maybe a bad solder connection in the aftermarket HU?

I was taught to never use the vehicles factory radio ground, always ground to the frame somewhere. If that doesn't help try a ground loop isolator in line on the radios ground and I bet that takes care of it.

The sound you are hearing is a ground loop, and the isolator will remove or quiet it down. You need one that just has a wire on each end so you can put it in line with your ground. They make them with fittings on them for different devices such as rcas to go inline with your amps. Be careful what you buy though, some of them work well, and others don't work worth a damn.

I was helping with an install in... some crazy car. Forget what it was now. Anyways, no matter how we grounded it the whine was still there and it was bad. We had two different brand of GFI, one we used on the left rcas and the other on the right. Left side was quiet, right side still pretty loud. Switch them and the noise switched. Hence my warning, some just don't do a whole lot while others are pretty good.
