Default Angel Eyes are dim...

I was wondering if there was a way to make them brighter. I replaced the original light blue LEDs with amber ones that are a little dimmer than the original was. even in the dark you can barely tell they are on. Im not an electronics person but is there something I can do, like a different fuse or resistor or something? or is the problem the LED itself just doesn't put out the light. I had soldered the amber LEDs on but i did a horrible job and i figured that might be why they were dim, so i got some copper foil and wrapped it around the connection and its better but just enough to be noticeable.

[Edit: should this have been in the 'Everything Electronic' thread?]
