Default Subs are buzzing...

Ok, stupid question here... I finally got around to putting my subs into my C3. They aren't hooked up to the stereo yet, but I used a portable MP3 player and RCA cable to test them (used trucks power and grounds). At low volume they are fine, but once I start to give it some juice, they seem to buzz, or reverb a bit. I am running 2 12" PPI subs and a P2200 PPI amp bridged. I ran the same setup in my car with no issues. The only things that have changed are 1) I added a 1farad cap to the power source 2) I quickly threw together the sub boxes (new homemade boxes to fit the C3). I know the boxes have some small gaps in some of the workmanship. Could these gaps be letting out too much air causing this buzzing? The gaps are large enough to easily feel airflow from many seems. The subs are designed to work in a sealed box best. :?:

could be the settings on your mp3 player too. when you have bass boost and equalizer settings changed from normal and turned up high it will distort. The box wouldnt make it buzz and yah you might check the ground also.

The buzz/reverb could also be the air trying to escape from the box (I think its called chuffing?). You definitely want to make sure its sealed up and also try another music source. Do you have a laptop or portable CD player or walkman?

I just did a half-a$$ed job of sealing up the boxes just to see., since the grounds checked out. One sub no longer buzz'* but the other does. I guess I will need to make some better boxes in the near future. :?

you could always seal the inside joints with silicone. that would eliminate any air "holes"

That'* what I did. Sealed the gaps with calking. One is buzz free but the other is still going at it. Not too suprising though considering how fast I built the boxes and how odd shaped they are (not 90^ angles due to space).
