Great forum, just bought my SSEI last month and had 2 blown 6x9'*. Didn't realize how complicated this monsoon system really is. However, managed to install new JBL GTO-938 6x9'* but would really like to amp these to full range being they are 3 way speakers, not "subwoofers"... I'm looking at tapping into the factory wires for the high level input to a new amp but not sure if I should tap into the rear output wires from the factory HU, or from the Monsoon amp. I'm assuming the HU??

Well, I have owned my Bonny for 2 months and found out this about the Monsoon system, its either all or nothing,,, yeah you can tap into it perhaps, but you wont get what you want from it,,,, the system is made for what it is made for, simple as that,,, a good alternative to your problem and its something that I am considering now are these 6.5 subwoofers that fit along with the 6x9 adapter piece, one air that I've worked with in the past are some audiobahns look for them on ebay they are about 59-69 bucks, they just might work, try it if you can and are tying to keep everything simple! Good luck bro !!!!!!

I completely ripped out the Monsoon system, wiring, and factory speakers. I replaced it all with new Kenwood speakers in all the doors and deck, with a 4 channel amp feeding them. Sound improved by 100x at least. You just lose some bass when doing this so I also put in a 10" sub in the trunk.

i agree, either leave it alone or completely rip it out. i havent heard a factory setup, monsoon or bose that comes anywhere close to even a medium to lower cost aftermarket setup. even just a high power HU with appropriate power fronts and rears with a 10 and amp would be better

And there you have it, what both these gentleman suggest is pretty much your best options, and if you were thinking of buying that $100 harness for an aftermarket HU online so that you can keep the stock monsoon amp do not bother expecting that you will get a clear sound, you will not get anymore volume than perhaps a little over half of what the factory HU puts out, I've done it and done that and settled with the conclusion of all or nothing! Check out those audiobahns if you get a chance I am planning on doing that more than likely!

http://youtu.be/yrQbkxaE5Wc Here they are on this video, and they sell adapters for 6.5 to 6x9 conversions. I've installed these along with component sets up front for people who look for that Infinity/Bose/Jbl bass sound without the box in the truck,,,, you can even add a small 300w amp and tap into the monsoon amp for an extra boost of bass,,, but thats if you wanna customize just a little bit without all the work!

Great feedback, thank you! Those Audiobahns look awesome considering I'm not looking at adding a boxed sub to the system. I might have to return the JBL 6x9'* and look into upgrading the door components. I'm not looking at replacing the head unit at this time, but if I do the monsoon amp would definitely get the boot.

One last thing, if I did want to get full range sound from the 6x9'* with my current stock setup, couldn't I just feed the signal from the rear doors to the rear deck? I'd be okay losing the rear door speakers if it meant full range from the back.

Yeah just tap into the rear door speakers from the amp in the trunk but keep the back door speakers connected as well, no need to cut the sound from those!
