Thats strange,,,, coincidently, I came from an STS to an SSEI with the Monsoon.

I think the 10 speaker Bose I had in the Caddy blows away the Monsoon across the board, bass included

I couldn't agree more. Why GM ever went with Mon-sucks is beyond me. I'm sure it was a lot cheaper and maybe they thought they'd attract the younger generation that likes all that booming. What'* really a shame is all these kids running around with 800 watts booming in there cars will be deaf or have major hearing problems when there in the 40'* and don't give their gift of hearing a second thought.

I really wish GM had offered a Bose system in this car instead of this Mon-Sucks. El Camino Man, I've got the bass down to "0" and realize I could go -6 if I needed, but that makes the rest of the speakers sound like tin cans.
The amp is in the trunk, mounted to the back of the rear seat. There is a plastic piece held up by magnets that'* covering it. It comes off easy, no worries.

That'* the part I can answer. I can't answer the other part because well, I didn't do it. Whoever had the car before me did all this electronic FUBAR stuff. I can give you pictures though!

Mouse, Thanks for all the help and usefull pictures. It looks like the wires were directly connected from the radio outputs to the speakerleads off the amp. It also looks like there'* some new speaker wire that was run, but I wonder if they go to the rear speakers or to others in the car. No matter, at least the amp in your car has been bypassed and the radio sounds fine per your previous notes, so I may do the same so I can get the full range sound out of the 6x9 rear deck speakers. Again, thanks for your help and the pictures. It will help a lot

You're right, there is new wiring ran. They run to all the speakers in the car. All 8 of them. I don't know why they did it this way, but they did. The good thing is when I get the money to put new speakers in and an amp all the wires are right there to go to the amp.

you can do a search on crutchfields site for "monsoon wiring diagram" and it will give you a breakdown of how its wired. I bypassed the amp on my brothers G6, put in a 10" sub and a MTX amp for the new front speakers. Now it sounds great. Im going to do the same thing in my GXP when i get some extra cash.

Thanks,
Ken
