Crutchfield Question
I heard from a few people here that Crutchfield is a good place to buy from. By looking at the site, it looks to be really a good place to buy.
Anyway, I put my information in: 1995 Pontiac Bonneville with 2 grills on the doors. I bought a pair of Pioneer TS-A1371R (5-1/4" 3-way car speakers) from my friend. Saddly, one of them broke. So I am buying new ones so I can have a spare if they break, plus they sounded great in his car. However, on the site, it says that they fit the Rear Deck. Plus when I put them in my cart, they give me a free mounting kit for putting it in the rear. Will these not fit in the front of my car, because it says that other 5-1/4'* will?
They also have these in the Scratch & Dent section. Has anyone bought anything from that section? I really don't care if they have a scratch on them since they will be covered by the grill. They are tested and should work, correct?
Also, does anyone have a Referral Code from them? Save me some money

sometimes crutchfield lists that certain 5 1/4" speakers are too deep to fit in our doors......but our doors are pretty deep..........i personally would not run 5 1/4" speakers in the rear deck, they dont put out the bass like a rear speaker should

I am going to call them tonight and ask. As for the rears, I have Pioneer 6x9" 5-ways for the back which I also got from my friend. I'll order everything off the phone I guess so I can tell them not to send me the adapters to make the 5 1/4ths for the rear. I do need the speaker cable adapters for both the front and rears, correct?
I think I will get the ones from the scratch and dent section too, can't hurt since there is free return shipping.
Thanks for the referal code too

Agent: "Welcome to Crutchfield Sales. How can I help you today?"
Me: "I was interested in buying the Pioneer TS-A1371R, a 5.25 speaker for my car, but your site says that it will not fit while others will that size"
Agent: "What is the year, make and model of your vehicle?"
Me: "I have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville with 2 grills on each door"
Agent: "Hold on for me, I'll check that out."
Me: "ok, thank you"
Agent: "It'* due to the way some of the speaker baskets are designed. You'll need to stick with the ones that are sorted as a fit online so they will fit behind the factory grills."
Me: "ok, so basically that speaker is larger than most of the other 5.25?"
Agent: "Nope. I has to do with the way the speaker basket is designed. It'* really not easy to explain, you'd have to see it for it to make sense."
Any idea what he is talking about? I guess he talked to someone, but maybe you guys might know more.

I'm not sure that I believe that, I mean I've wedged some Infinity Reference 6.5" components in my 95'* stock locations without a terrible amount of effort.

Only thing I can figure is they are deeper than most or have an oversized magnet. I'm sure they tend to play it on the safe side for a guaranteed fit.
EDIT: I just looked them up, don't see anything strange to me. They are listed as top-mount only, but I think top mount is what you need.

If you guys think that they will fit, then I guess that I will order them. If I order them for the rear, I get the GM speaker adapter, but I don't get the instructions for the front. Do you think that is the way I should order them?
I've taken apart the door before (to fix the lock), but once it is taken off, is it just mostly unscrewing the old ones and screwing the new ones in?
