Does aftermarket audio void the warranty?
I want to put an Alpine stereo in my GXP, and a friend mentioned that this will void the warranty... anyone know if this is true?

No. Warranties still apply, except for 2 conditions
1) They do not cover the aftermarket part (obviously)
2) Not liable for anything caused by aftermarket parts or modifcations.

Hmm. I'm not going to do it though, the people at best buy are. They did say that it would take about 4 hours because there was special wiring they had to do for Bonnevilles. The guy sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

No special wiring needs to be done. Only the right interface is needed. Check through this post, http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=33586 and others.. There is an adapter out there that will directly hook up to the bonneville and continue to allow the Onstar, and door chimes to work. I'm sure they told you that you have to have radio re-wired to the trunk. I have an '04 and once I had the adapter it worked like a charm with the chimes, retained acc. power, and what not. I had about 5 different places tell me the same thing. But once I did my homework on here I found out the right way to do it.
However the problem is that most car audio places including high end places aren't aware of this adapter. I got the adapter from www.lafayetteradio.com. Although I did the install myself, you could still get the adapter and then give it to a place to install. That will save you a ton of money in custom labor, since the interface just hooks up directly to the factory ribbon cable.

ok so... if I have the radio re-wired to the trunk (yes that is what they told me they will do), the other stuff will not work? I guess I'm just confused. Do I absolutely need the adaptor, or is it just saving time rewiring the radio to the trunk? The installation is all free because I bought the radio at best buy, so I'm not worried about saving $$ on that, but I DO want my a/c, etc. to still work...
Is the factory radio still re-installable after all this?

If I get the adaptor from the lafayette radio, will the best buy guys install it? Also if someone could give me the exact link to the part on that site that would be helpful, I can't seem to find it :?
